Almer

Almer’s total population is around 100 people, who live in the hamlets of Almer, East Almer and Mapperton, and within the grounds of the Charborough Park. Our most significant landmark is the World’s End Pub, which is well known to locals and tourists alike, as they travel up and down the A31.

The church community

We have services most Sundays at either 8 or 11am. We have great celebrations of harvest and Christmas carols, when the church is packed with the choir and villagers as well as friends from far and near. We also have an annual service at Charborough Chapel, by kind invitation of Mr and Mrs Drax.

We are well-equipped with children’s toys and activities and enjoy welcoming people of all ages to join us.

Don’t miss our annual quiz in Morden Village Hall!

Our building

St Mary’s, Almer is situated just off the A31 and dates from the 12th century with a 15th century tower.

The bells are of particular historical significance and we are currently working on restoring them.

Our annual working party is a good opportunity to get some jobs done and also get together for a bit of a social too!
